Sacred Illusion explores subjects that sit across history, spirituality, consciousness, sacred place, anomalous experience and speculation.
Some of those subjects are well documented. Others are disputed, experiential or impossible to verify conclusively.
Our editorial approach is simple:
Curious without being credulous.
How we use sources
Sacred Illusion may draw on academic research, historical records, archaeology, books, archives, primary sources, reputable journalism, spiritual traditions, practitioner accounts and personal experience.
Where possible, we distinguish between:
Documented fact
Information supported by credible historical, scientific, archaeological or primary sources.
Interpretation
Theories or explanations proposed by researchers, writers, traditions or practitioners.
Experience
What individuals report seeing, feeling or encountering.
Speculation
Ideas that may be interesting or meaningful but cannot currently be established as fact.
We aim to avoid presenting belief, analogy or speculation as established evidence.
Corrections and updates
Sacred Illusion is an evolving publication.
Articles may be updated when:
- new evidence becomes available
- factual errors are identified
- better or more authoritative sources are found
- claims need clearer qualification
- older material no longer meets current editorial standards
Where a significant factual error is identified, we aim to correct it promptly.
Older content
Sacred Illusion contains articles published under earlier editorial approaches.
The archive is being systematically reviewed. Some articles will be rewritten, consolidated, redirected or retired.
This process includes improving sourcing, distinguishing fact from interpretation, removing unsupported certainty and making the origin of claims clearer.
AI assistance
Artificial intelligence tools may be used to support parts of the editorial process, including research organisation, transcription, analysis, editing, structure and drafting assistance.
AI-generated material is not treated as a factual source in its own right.
Published content remains subject to editorial review, and factual claims should be checked against appropriate sources where verification matters.

First-hand experience
Some Sacred Illusion articles include visits to sacred places, personal experiments, observations, meditation practices, Node Quests or other first-hand experiences.
Where this happens, we aim to make the distinction clear.
Personal experience is presented as experience, not proof.
A place feeling unusual, a coincidence appearing meaningful or a practice producing a particular effect for one person does not establish that the same explanation applies universally.
Recommendations and reviews
Some recommendations are based on first-hand use or experience.
Others are researched recommendations based on factors such as available information, specifications, reputation, suitability, independent reviews or relevance to the subject being discussed.
We do not claim to have personally used, visited or tested something when we have not.
Where that distinction is material, we aim to make it clear.
